Petaling Jaya, 21 February 2008 –  Good news for Rapid KL LRT users. New and efficient Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) have been installed at four LRT stations that can handle the purchase of multiple tickets using multiple denominations of Malaysian currency with one transaction.

The fou stations that have these new TVM’s are KL Sentral (11 units), Masjid Jamek (6 units), KLCC (6 units) and Taman Jaya Station. The remaining 19 stations on the the Kelana Jaya line will have these TVM’s installed in stages by April 2008.

“These new TVM’s are more efficient as the TVM’s can accept multiple notes and generate of up to five multiple tickets per transaction. These user-friendly machines will overcome the problems faced by our passengers with the current TVMs.” explained Shahril Mokhtar, General Manager, CEO’s office Rapid KL.

He added that “Although these TVM’s are only for the Kelana Jaya Line, we would like to inform that Rapid KL has been assigned the task for working on implementing an Integrated Ticketing System that will allow passengers to purchase tickets that can be used on both LRT systems and the bus.”
